City of North Las Vegas Expands Crossing Guard Services to Academica Supported Charter Schools

Las Vegas, NV – August 6, 2024 – In a significant enhancement to student safety, the City of North Las Vegas announced the expansion of its crossing guard services to include local charter schools. Starting this upcoming school year, CIVICA Academy, Somerset North Las Vegas, Somerset Losee, and Somerset Aliante will benefit from dedicated crossing guards at key intersections, a service previously unavailable to these schools.

This new initiative comes as a vital response to the needs of the more than 5,000 elementary and middle school students who attend these charter schools. By deploying crossing guards at busy intersections surrounding the schools, the City of North Las Vegas aims to provide a safer environment for students as they commute to and from school.

"The safety of our students is our top priority," said Principal Jessica Scobell, of Somerset Losee K-12 school, who expressed gratitude for the new service. "We are thrilled that the City of North Las Vegas is extending its support to include our charter schools this year. This addition will undoubtedly make a positive impact on our school community."

The crossing guards will be strategically positioned to manage traffic and ensure safe passage for students at busy intersections near the charter schools.
